Taste of Vacaville Coming to Suisun City
New restaurant in Waterfront District
Daily Republic
February 27, 2008
Carol Bogart

If you have been going to Vacaville to dine at the restaurant that Daily Republic readers have voted that city's best the past three years, you might be able to enjoy a similar dining experience in Suisun City by November.

Merchant & Main Grill and Bar owner Bob Tooke has signed a lease to open a 4,000-square-foot restaurant in Harbor Square at Solano and Main streets in Suisun City's Waterfront District.

Review of Main Street Bar & Grill by Solano Magazine
Main Street Bar & Grill's upstairs bar

In the last few years, the Suisun waterfront has acquired a solid reputation for good, affordable restaurants. But what was lacking was a place that served food taken to the next level—fine dining that’s still casual enough to fit into this town-in-transition. Now, with the arrival of the Main Street Bar and Grill at the corner of Solano and Main, the wait is finally over.

Anyone familiar with the Vacaville fine dining scene will know the venerable Old Post Office restaurant in the historic downtown. And perhaps they will recognize the name Soo Song, who is the owner. If so, they will be delighted to know that he is the owner and executive chef of this new Suisun restaurant. Folks from the Napa Valley will be equally pleased to learn that his Chef de Cuisine is Jason Siebels, formerly of the ever-popular Bounty Hunter in downtown Napa. Both have brought a steady hand to an ambitious undertaking, and if recent visits and word-of-mouth are any indication, it seems to have paid off.

Coffee Shop Owner Finds Home at Suisun Train Stop
Kirk Knutson at El Capitan Coffee Company
Ten Questions - Business Feature from the Daily Republic - December 22, 2007

1. How did you manage to have a business in the Suisun City train station?
I owned a coffee shop on Sunset a few years back, which I closed after a Starbucks opened nearby. The Suisun City Redevelopment Agency knew about me, and they asked me to work here and lease the space from them.

2. Can you really compete against Starbucks?
With El Capitan Coffee Co. we take a different approach to selling coffee. It’s coffee with a conscience; we are part of a co-op that buys the coffee from the growers at fair trade prices so that they can make a living.

New Suisun Eatery a Major Attraction
Dining Area at
Main Street Bar & Grill
By L. Pierce Carson
Napa Valley Register

SUISUN CITY – Our neighbors in Suisun City have reason to rejoice, in that a classy new restaurant has opened on Main Street in a storied brick building that dates from the late 19th century.

There have been restaurants in the building at 627 Main St. for decades but I doubt that any have been better than the current tenant, Main Street Bar & Grill, which, as the name implies, is an informal dining space serving up fresh, tasty California cuisine.

Napa Feel with a Suisun Price

New restaurant to feature California French food

SUISUN CITY – Soo Song’s new restaurant in Suisun City has the ambiance of New Orleans’ famous French Quarter and a menu rich in his blend of California French food.

The Main Street Bar & Grill is where the former Main 627 restaurant used to operate. Song also owns the Old Post Office Seafood & Grill in Vacaville.

“I want to give people the kind of dining experience that they would expect in Napa and San Francisco, but without that huge price tag,” Song said. “We chose Old Town Suisun City because it is easily accessible, there are new developments being constructed and the area is in a great location close to the water.”
