The Joy of Eating Story - The Joy of Eating originally opened in Vallejo in 1978 by the great train lover, Robert (Bob) Eash. After 2 years of struggles, "The Joy" took off and for 13 years Bob put all of his efforts into his family and his restaurant. But alas, life changes and Bob realized he wanted to move to the state of Washington.
In 1988, Carol-Ann Guldenbrien began working for Bob as a waitress, and later as a cook. In 1991, Bob approached Carol and her husband Ross with an offer to sell them the restaurant. They were thrilled, and in July 1992 Carol-Ann & Ross took over as the new owners of "The Joy."
In March 1997, current owners Mr. Won Kim & Mrs. Sun Kim purchased "The Joy." Some changes were made to the decor but they maintained the same good, wholesome food. "The Joy" serves substantial comfort food, made from scratch and cooked-to-order.
In May of 2007 the second "Joy of Eating Cafe" opened here in the Suisun City Waterfront District. Please come celebrate with us and enjoy the great quality food at our waterfront location and at the original location at 1828 Springs Road in Vallejo.
